potatoes Is planted at once In good

The unpleasantness occurred dur
ing the speech of Mr. Harvey, the
bone of contention being the contents
of a letter written by him io a Green
ville man for information concerning
Mr. Mauldin’s political record with
especial reference to the latter’s po
sition on the million dolla# bond issue
for roads Mr. Mauldin arose and ask
ed that Mr. Harvey produce v and read
the letter of inquiry to the Greenville
man, referred to as Mr. Norwood,
with the reply thereto. Mr.‘Harvey
declined to comply with this request,

Strength of Camp Jackson
ramp Jackson.—In the month of
July Camp Jackson gained 1G7 men
through enlistments over all discharg
es under the efficient guidance* of
Capt. Bullock. The strength of tho
post July 31 was 160 officers and 2,-
federal 572 enlisted men. making a totffl of
2.732 for the entire personnel.
During the month 233 men were dis
charged and 245 enlisted. Besides
these 113 were received from the re
emit depot posts and 40 from the
