Notice la hereby given that a pri
mary election of the Democratic par.
ty will be held on Tuesday, August
31st, 1920, and a second primary, if
one be necessary, will be held two
weeks sfter.
The following managers are hereby
appointed and the following polling
places named for both elections:
Barnwell—S. J. Halford, E. R. Gail
and W, E. McNab; Clerk, Geo. W.
Ready; polliifg place, Court House.
Bennett Springs—D. H. Glover, W.
F. Bates and H. H. Meyer; Clerk, W.
A. Bailey; polling place, San Hill
school house.
Blackville—C. C. Storne, L. F. Hsir
and J. R. Myrick; Clerk, Russell Boyl-
ston; polling place. J. R. My rick’s fur
niture store.
Double Pood—J. P. Chitty, Clinton

Special attention is called to the fol
lowing rules:
30. The msnsgers shell open the
polls at 8 o’clock a. m., and close them
at 4 o'clock p. m.; Provided, That in
the cities of Charleston and Columbia
the polls shall open at 8 o'clock a. m.,
and j:lp8? at 6 o’clock p. m. The man.
agers snail then proceed publicly to
count the votes. After tabulating
the result, the managers shall certify
the same and forwanl the ballot box,
containing the ballots, poll list and
all other papers, except the club roll,
relating to such election, by one of
their number to the chairman of the
county committee within 36 hours af
ter the close of the polls.
35. The county committees shall
assemble at their respective court
houses on the morning of the second
day after the election on or before 12

The numbers shell run seriatim for
each club. There shall be 50 per cent,
more ballots than there are voters en
rolled at each voting place.
Section 4. The managers shall be
responsible for all ballots furnished.
When a voter presents himself he
shall be given a ballot. The manager
in charge of the poll lists shall enter
the number of the ballot next the
name of the voter. The voter shall
forthwith retire alone to one of the
booths, and without undue delay pre
pare his ballott by scratching out the
name of the candidate for whom he
does not care to vote. No voter shall
remain in the booth longer than 5
minutes. After preparing his bal
lot, the voter shall present himself to
the manager. His ballot must be
folded In such a way that the number
can be seen and the coupon cun be
readily detached by the

Section 7. If the watchers or offi
cers of the law who are admitted to
the polling place by the managers
shall interfere with the managers or
obstruct the voting, ft shall be the du
