County in the “Dollar Democracy

* It is safe to say that fully 26 or 60
per cent of the hens which make up
the farm flock of«poultry do not lay
(enough eggs to pay for the feed they
consume.. Many hens are kept fryn
thqpe to five years on the farm and
such individuals are always a loss to
their owner. By keeping the best
layers and culling out the poor pro
ducers a greater profit will be derived
from the farm flock. Again eggs
will be hatched from only the heavy
layers and this will have a tendency
to increase the laying dualities of the
next generation. By disposing of all
inferior hens during the early fall
sufficient room is provided for this
years young stock. This will allow
them more housing space and the
health of the flock will be increased
thus causing a greater egg pro
duction.

Beatrice Morris and Pearle Bodiford.
of Healing Springs, spent some time
in Augusta, recently. They experi
enced a very pleasant time with rela
tives and friends.
Mrs. Rosalie Odom was carried to
the' Aiken Hospital Mcnday, July 19,
to undergo a surgical operation. Her
ur.any friends will regret to learn of
her illness and hope for her speedy
recovery.
Miss Sara Wise is now in Augusta
spending some time with relatives.
Miss Marir Bodiford has been spend
ing her summer vacation delightfully
at Augusta, Waynesboro and Colum
bia. She reports having had a de
lightful time.
Mr. W. P. Lott and spn, Mr. Gil
more Lott, spent soma time recently
j with her daughter. Mrs. J. R. Whet
stone. of Augusta.
