Williston, April 26.—The Williston
Democratic Club held its regular meet-

ing Saturday, the 24th inst., and elec
ted officers for the ensuing year, and
also elected delegates to the County
Convention, which is to be held in
Barnwell the first Monday in May.

Bank of Western Carolina Held An
nual Meeting Last Week.
At the annual meeting of the stock
holders and directors of the Bank of
Western Carolina, which was held in
Aiken on Tuesday of last week, Mr.
M. B. Hagood, of Barnwell, was elec
ted as one of the directors of that
institution to fill the vacancy caused
by the death of the Hon. George H.
Bates. The following report of the
meeting is taken from the Aiken

In the case of J. O. Patterson, Jr.,
against the Orangeburg Fertilizer
company for damages claimed to have
been caused by inferior potash in a
mixture of fertilizer, the suit being
for $27,000 damages and cancellation
of notes amounting to over $5,000,
after four days of the hardest legal

Ball Players Met Recently and Orga
nized a First-Class Club.
Local base ball players met last
*k and organized a club for Bam-
bergTo unite with the Tri-County
league which has recently been form
ed with teams from Bamberg, Barn
well, Allendale, Williston, Blaekville
and Denmark. The first game in the
new league will be played on May
4th.
It is planned to play two games
each week on Tuesdays and Fridays,
one game at home and one at one of
the neighboring towns. The uniform*
for the local club have been ordered,
together with all other necessary
paraphernalia, and the team wrttt he

on Friday from King's Mountain, N.

Miss Olive Parker left for her
home in Williston on Monday, her
term of school for this district having
been completed on that date.
Messrs. W. D. Gantt, of Barnwell,
and Dan Walker, of Ellenton, spent
Sunday here, the guests of relatives
and fridhds.
Mr. L. G. Hay has returned from a
stay of some weeks with relatives in
Charleston.
Mrs: Walter B. Fowke and little
son, Walter, Jr., are spending some
