Washington, (Special)—When the

agricultural appropriation' bill a few
days ago and was debating further
appropriations for the eradication for

however, that he feared that unless
the people in the South stopped fight
ing the diping of infested cattle that
very soon all federal appropriations
might cease, then whatever work
along this line might be csrried on
would have to proceed at tl^o expense
of the cattle raisers.

used in running a school for the In

In recent years since the cost of liv

sum has proved Inadequate to meet
the hdtual needs of the Indians and
some of the older members of the
tribe, unable to leave the reservation
to supplement their meager iticome,
have- been in want of food, clothing
and fuel. A considerable number
have moved away from the reserva

The reservation consists of 662
acr^s, most which is so denuded of
timber and is so rough, rocky and non
productive that less than a three-
horse farm can now he cultivated by
the Indians, about 75 of whom still
live on the reservation.
