was reared in Barnwell County but
has made his home in Dillon for the
past 20 years and during that time has
been the editor and publisher of the
Dillon Herald and has entered into
every important matter that had for
its object the upbuilding of this sec
tion of the State. He had served as
mayor for two terms, was president of
the chamber of commerce two terms,,
county chaiiman of the Democratic ex
ecutive committee and master of the
county since its foundation. Her has
been an‘officer of the State Press asso
ciation for the past ten. years and is
now president of the body.

Death of an Infant.
The 14-months old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Hryes died it the
home of Mr. W. A. H*ye* in Barnwell
Monday afternoon after an illness of
several weeks. The bereaved parents
have the sympathy of numerous friends
