home of Mrs. A. D. Connor, on Friday
afternoon of next wOck, July 18th, at
nix o’clock. A special invitation is
extended to the members of the Juve

Mrss Anne Jackson will preside at
the opening exercises and will give
on interesting talk. After this the
meeting will be turned over to the
Juvenile Society which will entertain
with an interesting program.
Members and friends are asked to
meet promptly at the church at 5:30
p. m., where automobiles will be wait
ing to convey them to the home of
Mrs. Conner. Delightful refresh
ments w ill be served and you may ex
pect a good time. Come.
A business meeting of the Woman’s
Missionary Society will he held at the
church on Tuesday afternoon at six
o’clock, when final arrangements will

The examination for the award of
vacant scholarships in the University
of South Carolina ami for admission
of new students will lie held at the
county Court House, July 11, 1919 at
9 a. m. Applicants must not l>e less
than sixteen years of age. When
scholarships are vacant after July 11,
they will be awarded to those making
the highest average at examination,
provided they meet the conditions gov
erning the award. Applicants for
scholarships should write to President
Currell for scholarship application

Col. R M. Cooper Dead.
Col. Robt. M. Cooper, of Wysaeky,
died at a Baltimore hospital Sunday
afternoon after an illness of several
weeks. He owned a large farm near
Martin station, in addition to large
agricultural interests in Lee and Sum
ter Counties. He was^ a fftember of
the staff of Governor Manning. .
