Aaaiatant Attorny General Render* Opinion to Commission. • *•*****• • ••*** V We are publishing the letter of our State chairman, Mrs. Munsel, explain ing the rules that govern the Slogan Contest for the benefit of all schools in the county. A copy of this letter at the request of our county chairman, Miss Barratt has been sent to every teacher in the county. We have been asked to appoint a committee here in Barnwell 4o decide upon the best Slogan. . We hope the schools will be prompt and send in their three best Slogans to the coun ty chairman by April 14th, so that our county can have its Slogans se lected by our committee in Columbia by the 15th or 16th. • The prise offered by the City of Barnwell to the local school is a $10 gold piece. Lumpkin, As sistant Attorney General, an opinion to the effect that the money collected for ,autoi)(lobile license fees in the area which is rtow Allendale County should be turned over to the Allendale County official^ as soon as they qualify* : Captain Lumpkin stated in his opin ion: “There is no specific provision in the Allendale County Act covering this situation, but from a general survey of the Act and its various provisions, I am of the opinion that the moneys collected from this area should be, turned over by you to the Allendale County officials, upon their being duly qualified as the officials of that coun ty. During the month of April club meetings for the girls of the canning and poultry clubs will be held. At these meetings the sewing work to be done by club members will be begun. All club members are expected to at tend their respective ~ meeting when notified to do so, for attendance at these meetings wdl count on their club record for the year. A very . disastrous fire occurred about eight miles out near Baldock • around midnight on Tuesday, when ‘the old-fashioned residence of Mr. S. j E. Strange whs entirely gutted, and the inmates having retired for the night were lucky to escape with their lives, nothing whatever being saved.
