Washington (Special).—A bill ap propriating $300,000,000 by the federal government for the education of boys and girls between the ages of six and IS years, each State being paid on^ the basis of $10 per capita for each child within that age within its juris diction was introduced by Senator Pollock of South Carolina and refer red to the education and labor com mittee. The bill is designed to pro mote the -education of children throughout the country, ,but provides that no part of the sum appropriated is to be paid unless the States pass legislation requiring each child be tween six and 12 years of age to at tend school for at least four months a year. • To Build Modern Hospital.
