THE ALLENDALE CHAPTER
HELPED IN WINNING WA*
Cessation of Hoftilities Does Not
• Mean That Work la Finished.
::
The members of the Allendale
Chapter of the Amarican Red Cross,
in our small way, have each and every
one of us helped to win the war and
to relieve the differing growing out
<#U, and we each feel a sense of grat
itude in having had a share in it aO.
We are now looking forward’to peace,
but even with peace let no one sup-
, pose that the work of the Red Cnws
! is finished. Millions hf ‘ American
boys are still under arms—thousands
of them are sick or wounded. It may
take months or a year to bring them
. home, but whatever the time, our pro
tecting arms must be about them and,
their families over the whole period
j which must elapse before the normal
life of peace can be resumed. Let
every Red Cross member and worker
show our returning soldiers and sail*
ors that to care for their health, wel
fare and happiness we are enlisted for
no less a period than they are.
The cessation of war will reveal a
picture of misery such as the world
has never seen before. The Ameri
can people will expect the Red Croes
i to continue their work. These h«l*-
less people are dependent on us for
the necessities of life, food and cloth
ing. Our surgical work is over and
let eech of our surgical workers sad
• every woman in America feel it aa
honor and duty to help la
clothes and conserving food for
stricken millions. Our rooms will ha
open. We have a rush
on hand of wool to make sweaters
socks—come and help; these
