Camp Jackson.
One of the most impressive services
iver witnessed at camp was that of
communion service, conducted by
Chaplain Roswell C. Long of the
Fourth regiment. The service was
held in "Y*; building 138. and the
chaplain was assisted by the pastor
of the First Presbyterian church and
the staff of Y. M. C. A. secretaries
'of the local building.
At a recent meeting of the religious
Traders of Camp Jackson It was agreed
that the observance of holy commun
ion should be effected in each Y. M.
C. A. building at least once a mouth.
Charged before the general court-
martial with wilfully dlsobyelng the
orders of a superior officer. Private
John B. Wood* of Company K. Second
Provisional Regiment, was sentenced
to serve ten years la the United States
disciplinary barracks at Fort Leaven
worth. Kan., and to be dishonorably
discharged from the service, ns well
as forfeiting nil pay and allowance!

ing of this kind would be done for at
least some weeks.
Special investigation made failed to
show any special plans with reference
to either Camp Sevier or Camp Wads
worth. and they will undoubtedly fol
low the lines-indicated by General
March, but with Camp Jackson it is
different.
Maj. Gen. M. J. Snow, when asked
as to what would bv done at Colum
bia, said to both Senator Smith and
Congressman Lever:
I "The department expects to keep
Camp Jackson as a center for field
artillery training. The, new land
which has recently been acquired
will be kept. There is no reason at
this tinie to expect that it will be giv
en back."
As to demobilization plans. General
March said nothing, but from other
sources It is unofficially learned that
the camp will probably’be reduced to
something like 10.000 men and remain
as a permanent artillery camp.

county home is that Herman Caugh-
mam is still alive. Several months
ago his name was printed in a casual
ty list of those killed in action. No
further information respecting the cir
cumstance of his death was ever re
ceived. but now comes an official tele
gram to his father statin? that Her
man Csnehman is still alive and that
