NOVEMBER * W1L (r,v Occupants of Two Cars Stare Sudden Death in the Face. i Two parties of Barnwell County au- tomobilists had ' miraculous escapes from serious injury and possible death Monday. The first accident occurred Monday morning when Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Cave wer^ returning from their farm near Seiglingville. They drove up to a railroad crossing, at which poin^ the track is partially'obscured by the embankment, and hearing no sound and seeing no smoke from an approaching train, started to cross. At that moment a tram bore down upon them at a rapid rate of speed, whereupn Mrs. ;Cave applied the brakes on her car, which stopped so near the track that the passing engine knocked off the bumper and bent one of the fenders on the machine. Mr. Cav^jumped out but his wife, who was driving, was unable to get out of the car until the train had passed. The present low price for cotton I* ' causing much concern v among tka farmers and merchants of the cornier, and as the result of the growing im» easiness over the situation a meeting was held in the Court House at Bara- well Saturday.
