to leave his wife or daughter at home
by herself; we are almost afraid to
leave our own domiciles, which are
supposed to be protected by our great
laws, unless we have doors and win
dows locked end barred. And yet we
boast of law and order

Pursuant to authority vetted in us
as the Executive Committee of the
Barnwell Municipal Democratic party
and in accordance with the rules and
regulations of the said party, we do
hereby order an election to be held in
the city of Barnwell, on Tuesday,
August 13th, for the purpose of nom
inating a Mayor and six Aldermen as
the Democratic nominees to be voted
for in the general election held for the
purpose of electing a Mayor and Ald
ermen for the city of Barnwell.
This election will be held under the
rules of the Democratic Party and all
candidates are required to announce
their candidacy in one or more county
papers in at least one issue preceding
said election, and to me a pledge in
accordance with said rules.
In the said election the voters shall
scratch the names of all save one can-
ii late for Mayor, and all save six (6)
candidates for Aldermen. No one
will be allowed to vote unless hia name
appears on the Barnwell Municipal
Democratic Gub Roll.
