The Hicka place, about one mile
from Barnwell, was sold at auction

about $.35 per acre.
The old school house property in
this city was sold at auction Monday
afternoon. It was cut into pine lots,
three of which were bought by Mr.
W. J. Lemon for $1,600 and the bal
ance by Mr. Martin C. Best for $2,100.
This price did not include the build
ing, which has been tom down and
rebuilt for the use of the negroes.
As evidence that The People is the
best equipped printing office in Barn
well bounty, it might be stated that i
addition to publishing its regular ed
tion, which consisted of 12 pages last
week, this office also printed a one-
page insert, furnished the composi
tion for and “made-up” the forms of
The Barnwell Sentinel, and printed
a “bunch” of job work, including a 23
page lawyer's brief. If service means
