If Editor Booker, of the Spartaiburg
Journal is elected clerk of the House
ef Representatives, can the' square
meal town supply him with butter
milk?
“J. R. S— says he didn’t feel at all
like working.”—Patent medicine ad
vertisement. Well, why doesn’t he go
to little old New York and join the
strikers ?
Turn about is fair play. A couple
of years ago the Georgia newspapers,
among others, were exclaiming, “Poor
South Carolina!” Now it seems that
H is th other way about.

The People does not anticipate a
• “bolt" from the Democratic party in
November, but then it’s just as well
to have a registration certificate. Next
Monday is the last day to register.
It is as we expected. At heart, the
esteemed Charleston American is Re
publican. Its editor is now urging the
voters of this State to support Mr.
Hughes for President. Verbum sat
aapienti.
No, Celestine, we do not believe that
Mr. Blease intends to bolt the Dem
ocratic party—at least, not this year.
He has his eyes on the Senatorial toga
two years hence—and whatever else
he may be, Mr. Blease is not a fool.
The people of this section of the
State have much to be thankful for.
They have been blessed with good
crops and exceptionally high prices.
How many have returned thanks to
“the Giver of all good and perfect
gifts?”
“Orangeburg's schools opened yes
terday with the largest enrollment in
their history. Incidentally, Superin
tendent Thackston is better equipped
than ever to handle the children,” says
the Times and Democrat. Is that a
threat or a promise?
The election has been won or lost,
according to the viewpoint of the win
ner or loser. The sooner the bitterness
engendered by the past campaign is
forgotten, the better it will be for the
individual and the State. Noting
can be gained by “rubbing it in.”
With the prices for newspaper soar
ing skyward, would it not be a good
idea for the newspaper publishers of
South Carolina to organize a com
pany for the manufacture of print
paper? It seems to us that the pub
lishers might as well enjoy some of the
benefits of high-priced print paper.
The South Carolina Press Association
might do well to investigate” the mat
ter. \ t
During his term of office, the pre
decessor of Governor Manning, among
other things, defied the Supreme Court
in the matter of appointing special
judges, telling that august body that
when certain lawyers were recommend
ed he would appoint them. That Mr.
Manning has no desire to over-ride the
Constitution is sljpwn very clearly in
his appointment of special judges.
Furthermore,.}^ does not consider one
who voted against him as a personal
enemy.
“Another reason we are glad the
election “has cum an’ gawn,” as they
•ay in ole Gor’gy, is tlyit our friend
Davies, of the B&rnwell People, will
have more space tfedevote to his para
graphs. They were badly missed du
ring the past campaign," compliments
* the Jasper Herald. We hasten to as
sure Brother Archer, that just as soon
as we can regain our equilibrium we
will grind out a few of those “badly
missed” paragraphs.

An Easy Way to Reduce Flesh.
Drink Hot Water and Take Tassco
Haven’t you often wished for a med
icine to reduce your flesh?’Something
that does not require dieting or calis
thenics? Well, right here you have
it in 5-grain tassco tablets which you
may secure at any drug store. They
are pleasant to take, perfectly harm
less and cause no restrictions of habit
or eating, and reduce the flesh, little
by little, until you are down to the
number of pounds you wish to weigh.
Too much flesh is undesirable, as most
quite stout people will readily admit,
and it detracts from one’s good ap
pearance; makes one clumsy and short
of breath.
There isn't any reason why anyone
should be too stout, When there’s this
much-tried, perfectly satisfactory
remedy at any drug store. Tassco
tablets (don’t forget the name) are
recommended by physicians and are

The American men and women must
guard constantly against kidney
trouble, because we eat too much and
all our food is rich. Ou» blood is
filled with uric acid which the kidneys
strive to filter out, they weaken from
over-work, become sluggish; the elim
inative tissues clog ana the result is
kidney trouble, bladder weakness and
a general decline in health.
When your kidneys feel like luipp*
of lead, your back hurts or the urine
is cloudy, full of sediment or you are
obliged to seek relief two or three
times during the night; if you suffer
with sick headache or dizsy, nervous
spells, acid stomach, or have rheuma
tism when the weather is bad, get
from any druggist about one dozen
kidneco tablets; take one with a glass
of water before each meal for a few
days and your kidneys will then set
fine. This famous remedy is made
from perfectly harmless ingredients
and acts quickly and has been used for
generations to flush snd stimulate
cloggcxi kidneys; to neutralize the
acids in the urine so it no longer js s
source of irritation, thus ending blad
der disordera.
Kidneco is inexpensive; cannot in
jure, make no mistake, insist on kid
neco, it belongs in every home, because
nobody can make a mistake by having
a good kidney flushing any time.
