A Singular Case of
Resurrection
By F. A. MITCHEL
The Inreatigntoni of the Itockefeller
^ Institute may be very pnoud of them
selves. Indeed, they have reason to
be. They have substituted live parts
of the human body for dead parts; they
have set heart substance beating out
side Its proper place in a man’s breast.
If they keep on they may in -time ipal^e
a man out of parts o£ other men. But
if the stories of \yhat Indian fakirs
have done in keeidng persons alive in
a comatose condition for rminy years is
true these Rockefellers or scientific
fellers or whatever they are have yet
much to learn from an antique and ap
parently undeveloped civilization.
There is a story going the rounds
among the uudergradpahea of a certain
university wbiebrtf It can be substan
tinted, puts the modern scientific tnves
tlgator to slMuie. Arnold (iereuu. as
sistant professor of chemistry—he has
. charge of the laboratory—is one of
those phenomena who spring up once
in a century. He Is very young, and
if is well known that he was born with
certain mental powers, a certain su-1
peruatural knowledge of things on
which many a man has studied for a
lifetime without making any progress
whatever.
Willbur Stock bridge, a member of
the class of MS, so the story goes, one
day went to Professor Geronu with a
yellow bit of |>aper on which was writ
ten in old English style;

were the principal replacements.
These operations required several
hours, aud another hour passed before
Private Arbuckle upoke. Then he
opened his eyes and cried out in «
voice that seemed to come through dry
leather:
“Corporal of tjie guard!"
Geronu was delighted. It looked at
if he might save his patient, for while
the man had doubtlesa been dcanimut-
ed in good health his being brought
back to consciousness wnk not only a
difficult matter, but a dangerous one.
There are several versions of the rest
of tbe story. Some say that Arbuckk
was sufficiently restored to remembei
and speak of his expected execution
Others aver that Gereau, finding hh

Came to Rescue.
Catron, Ky.—In an interesting letter
from this place, Mrs. Bettie Bullock
writes as follows: "I suffered for four
years, with womanly troubles, and during
this time, I could only sit up lor a little
while, and could not walk anywhere at
all. At times, I would have severe pains
in my left side.
Tbe doctor was called la, and his treat
ment relieved me for a while, but I was
soon confined to my bed again. Alter
that, nothing seemed to do me any good.
I had gotten so weak I could not stand,
and I gave up in despair.
At last, my husband got me a bottle oi
Canlui, the woman’s -tonic, and I com
menced taking it. From the very first
dose, I could tell it was helping me. I
can now walk two miles without its
tiring me, and am doing all my work.”
If you are all run down from womanly
troubles, don’t give up in despair. Try
Cardui, the woman’s tonic. It has helped
more than a million women, in its 50
years of continuous success, and should
rurely help you, too. Your druggist has
sold Cardui lor years. He knows what
it will do. Ask him. He will recom
mend it Begin taking Cardui today.

Where’s Your Bank?
A bank can’t make money without
depositors. The depositors ne«?d a
bank, too. *
Of course, if it were only a matter
of keeping the money safe it could be
hid in a mattress or tea-pot. But
if you happen to be in the city, or at a
distance from home and have neglec
ted to bring your mattress or tea-pot
—there you are. Now if you had
your money in a good bank, you could
fill out a check anytime, any place—no
matter where you leave the bank.
