erans, has confered’a signal honor upon
Hon. D. S. Hendeson, appointing him
judge advocate general. The . office
thus bestowed is practically the highest
appointive office in the gift of the com
ipauder-in-chief of the Confederate
Veterans/and the appointment of Mr.
Henderson elevates him to the highest
legal position in the ranks of the Veter
ans. Mr. Henderson is being congratu
lated upon this honor, and his many
friends are greatly gratified that his
legal attainments have received this
well-merited recognition.

promising young pitcher and will prob
ably land in the front ranks of the
Tigers’ pitching staff.

The Convention of School District
Trustees, which was held at Aiken on
Friday, was attended by Dr. W. M.
Jonea, of WilHston, and Supt H. J.
Crouch, of Elko. The former addressed
the convention on the “Consolidation of
Rural Schools,’' while latter made an
excellent address on “The Duties of a
County Superintendent of Education.’’
The People recently finished printing
s most complete set of ordinances for
the town of Blackville. The ordi
nances, which were carefully prepared
by Mayor A. H. Ninestein, of Black
ville, and Herbert E. Gyles, former
Mayor of Aiken, embrace practically
everything coming under the jurisdic
tion of a town council. They were so
compiled as to be adapted to other
towns. Interested mayors and intend-
ants are referred to Mr. Ninestein for
further information.

half pints. All case, drum and bulk
goods must show the proof and grade
of each brand of whiskey offered and
proof stated specifically in the bid.
Bidders are requested to state what
deductions are made on case and drum*
goods in lots of 10, 25, 50 and 100 cases
and drums or more.
Bids are also requested for bottles,
ohe gallon glass containers, labels, and
everything used in connection with
the bottling of spirituous liquors.
Sample should conform as near as
possible with bid submitted.
