. v Rev. Reiter Hunter Hasty, son of Mr.
’ D. W. Hasty of StewarttviHe township, J
and member of the Western North
Carolina Methodist Conference, died at
the home of Mb father Sunday morninit,
Oct 18th. Rev. Mr. Hasty was raised
in this county and was a life-long mem-
’ * : ber of the Caledonia church. He wasj
born May 6th, 1886, and was therefore {
29 years, 5 months and 12 days old '
when death claimed him. Being of a ,
literary turn of mind he began early to
apply himself and after attending the
preparatory schools he entered Trinity
College, where he studied, during the j
sessions of 1904-5 and again during the !
sessions of 1907-8. His life at college ;
was one that, in every respect, became (
a Christian young man. He spent sev
eral years teaching at Fairfield, N. C.,
Dunbarton, S. C., and other places, be-
j - , • fore entering the ministry. When the
writer first met him in the fall of 1910
he waa at home, but interested in every 1
department of the church’s work. For
some time he was Superintendent of
the Sunday School at Caledonia and ex
erted an influence that will tell for
many years. At the District confer
ence, which met at Biscoe in May, 1911,
he waa licensed to preach and recom
mended to the annual conference for
admiaaion on trial into the traveling
connection, into which relation he was
admitted at the session of the annual i
conference held at Kingston, N. C , in
Nov. 1911, and was appointed to the
Kennekeet circuit in the extreme east
ern part of the State. He aerved this
charge well and acceptably until late
> in the Spring of the next year, when
signs of failing healtn began to appear.

For sometime he was very sick and on
the advice of his pnysician he gave up
his work and came home to rest. When
he began to improve, an opening hav
ing occurred in the western part of the
State, he was appointed to the Hot
Springs circuit, forty miles west of
Asheville. He served this field the re
mainder of 1912, was reappointed for
1913 and again for 1914. His health
failed in June of this year and he was
carried to the hospital at Asheville, but
steadily grew worse. Two weeks ago
he came home to his father’s and died

held at Caledonia, conducted by the
writer, assisted by Rev. W. V. McRae,
pastor of the Methodist church st Max-
ton. The burial was made in the ceme
tery at Caledonia, with Muonic hon
ors, a large number of the order being
present and taking part. The large
congregation present and the many
beautiful floral offerings bore silent
witness of the high esteem in which he
was held. During the summer of 1911
he was married to Miss Elizabeth Wall,
of South Carolina, who with one child,
a father, three sisters and two brothers,
survive him. The writer was much
associated with Bro. Hasty for one year
and found him always a thoroughly
consecrated Christian young man. He
was modest and retiring, never pushing
self forward, yet never faltering in the ! thf following described real property:

In an affidavit executed before a

size on the right side of neck over the
jugular vein—a dangerous place. Was
treated by many doctors but no bene

ulcer in six months. ,
This salve is one of the oldest rem

Allen's Ulcerine Salve acta by draw

Doubtless he had hoped to bear the
