The many friends of Mr. Isadore
Brown, of Blackville, will.be glad to
learn that he is recovering rapidly
from an operation for appendicitis.

Harley went over to Wagener this week
to bring back to this county A. R;
Green, a negro, who is charged with
disposing of property under mortgage.
A commission has been issued to the
Kline Warehouse Company of Kline
with a capital stock of $2,000. The pet
itioners are B. M. Jenkins, Sr., T. F.
Hogg and Victor Lewis. Notice of
incorporation is published elsewhere in
this issue.

Teacher’s Examination
Pursuant to an order of the State
Board of Education, notice is hereby
given that the regular Fall teachers
examination will be held in the court
house at Barnwell on Friday, Oct. 2nd
1914, beginning at 9 o’clock a. m, and
closing promptly at 5 p. m.
This examination will be based upon
the following subjects: Agriculture,
History, English, Algebra, Arithmetic,
Physiology and Hygiene, Civics and
Current Events, Pedagogy and Geog
raphy. The examination on the above
subjects will be based upon the State
adopted text books. , *
All teachers holding certificates as
the result of- a teachers examination
are hereby notified that first and sec
ond grade certificates will not be re
newed unless the holder attends some
summer schopl and passes the final ex
amination on at least three bragehes.
Third grade certificates will not be re
newed in any event.
The questions on each braqch will be
given-out separately and only a certain
time will be allowed for answering
these questions. The schedule to be
followed as follows: Preliminary
