Mr». Arthur M. Sander*.
This faithful Christian woman, affec
tionate wife and devoted mother quiet
ly passdd into rest June 16, 1914,
after onlythree days of illness, althoug
feeble for some time. Her husband,
Arthur M. Sanders, six children, two
brothers and three sisters survive her.
Mrs. Sanders was the daughter of the
late'Mr. L. T. and Mrs. Emily Williams
of Barnwell County. She was married
April 18, 1901, and died when only
thirty-six years of age, her eldest child
being 12 years old and the youngest but
.11 months. In early life she “put on
Christ” and became a good member of
the Rosemary Baptist Church, ever
adorning her profession of faith by a
Godly walk. She was a high and
beautiful pattern of Christian fidelity
and industry in her hoihe and commu
nity. Her decease was a shock of
unexpected grief to her kindred and
friends, but they rejoice to think of
her as “safe in the arms of Jesus.”
The impressive funeral obsequies
were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hayes,
pastor of the Barnwell Baptist Church,
in the presence of many friends, and
the body was laid to rest in the Hair
cemetery, near Elko, S. C., June 17,
1914. *
‘Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep,
*From which none ever wakes to
weep;
A calm and undisturbed repose—
Unbroken by the last of foes.”

The People publishes the cards this
week of Capt. J. B. Armstrong for re-
election as county treasurer and Magis
trate L. H. Williams for re-election as
magistrate at iflmer. The fact that
these gentlemen have served more
than one term each is sufficient evi
dence that they need no introduction Jo
the voters.
The little three-year old son of Mr.
and Mrs. C. L. Bryant was carried to
a Spartanburg hospital Sunday morn

“THE OLD ORDER CHANGETH,
YIELDING PUCE TO NEW.”
King Arthur sadly realized this truth when in passing
away, he gave utterance to the above thought. So it is
in all kinds of business, banking included: the old way if
not adapted to modern progress must give place to newer
methods. Keeping money at home, subject to loss by
theft and fire, has for the most part passed away in Barn
well County by reason of modern facilities in banking.
MONEY IN BANK, CHECK BOOK IN POCKET
*
is the new order now practiced by all who are really
progressive.
First, select the bank wisely, and if the acid test of capi
