Mrs. W. E. Harter and a bevey of
church workers gave a bazar and sup
per at Manuel’s store Thursday eve
ning for the Methodist church. Over

The first number of the Alkahest
system came off Tuesday evening. It
was a grand entertainment, consisting
of fine instrumental and vocal music-
on piano and violin, impersonations
and readings.

at the State ball Thursday evening.
Mrs. J. Allen Patterson and Mrs. W.
Arnold Searson went to Columbia three miles of White

removed to Sumter, to the regret of
their friends here.
Dr. Alfred A. Patterson and Heriot
Patterson were among those from Al
lendale who attended the State Fair.

At a meeting of the county dispen
sary Board of Control here Monday,
Mr. J. P. Harley was elected dispenser
at Snelling to succeed the late Mr.
Grubbs. At a former meeting Mr. C.
K. Baxley was elected but he could not
accept the position.
Biease’s Stepmother Dead.
Columbia, November 2.—Mrs. P’Jiza-
beth Blease, stepmother of Governor
Blease, died in Newberry to-night at ( J
o’clock. The funeral arrangements
have not yet been made.
