If Senator Tillman of South Caro
lina, can have hla way there will be
no smoking in the executive sessions
of the senate. He Is very sensitive
to the odor of tobacco and made an
effort during the executive session
Tuesday to have smoking prohibited,
bat, as the question is not covered
by the rales, he failed. He then
gave notice that he would soon intro-
dne a resolution prohibiting smok
ing tn the senate chamber at all
tlmee. Confirming the report as to
his Intention, Mr. Tillman said;

Cry of Fire Starts Stampede, and
Smoke From Exploded Moving Pic
ture Film, Added to Terror.
A boy’s cry of “fire’* and the
smoke from an exploded reel of a
motion picture machine in an East
Side New York theatre Sunday night
resulted In a panic among the audi
ence of 400 persons and a rush for
the exits, in which two women were
killed and eleven other persons so
badly injured that they had to be
sent to hospitals. ♦.
The panic occurred in one of the
most densely populated sections of
the East Side and the thousands
w ho poured into East Houston street,
u front of the theatre, and rushed
to the doors added to ihe confusion
and to the number of injured.
