A majorir^ of Die delegates ;n

to the State Convention favor Judge
Jones for Governor.
Dickens County.
Tiie delegation is divided as to the
governor’s race, but it is though; a
majori'y of them are fur Jones. .No
effort was made to test the strength
of either of the two candidates.
Richland County.
The convention was anti-Rlease by
about ho majority, and' while Die
gubernatorial situation was not dis
cussed, it was mentioned in several
speeches incidentally enough to show
the temper of the Convention and ;<>
prove thy it was anti-Rlease. Out
of tile delegation of 12 to the State
convention only one is counted for
the Governor.
Saluda County.
The convention was quiet and bus
iness-like. It was stated prior to the
calling of the convention that resolu
tions endorsing the administration of
Gov. Please would be presented, hut
not ono word was said in the con
vention, either as to Please or Jones.
Spartanburg County.
The complete route of the friends
of Governor Please was the feature
of the county Democratic convention.

Hive fn ;eht cars and one coal car,
all heavily loaded, jumped the track,
and were considerably broken up.
A negro brakoman. who was walking
along on top of the cars, jumped to
tiie ground when he saw the cars
leaving the track. Ilo suffered a
broken leg and other injuries. Had
he remained on the cars the chances
are that he would have been killed.
While working at Die scene of the
wreck tiie coal ear turned over on
the section master, inllieting painful
internal injuries. No others were in
jured The traffic along the line was
delayed somewhat. The track was
badly torn up, but Die large force of
hands soon had it in repair for trav-
