the Democratic party In Illinois,
which recently carried that State for
Clark, and the Sullivan wing of the
party, which supported Wilson, re
cently had a regular monkey and
parrot time In tho Cook County Dem
ocratic Convention, which includes
the city of Chicago. The result was
a split and two sets of delegates ho-
taf elected to the State Convention,
which meets In I’eoria on Friday.
Hearst and Harriman, fearing they
could no* organize the convention be-

ington issued the following statement
on Monday regarding Senator Till
man's position toward the New Jer
sey governor and tho presidency:
"The sentiment of South Carolina
Democrats is unquestionably in favor
oi the nomination of Woodrow Wil
son for the presidency, according to
Senator Hen It. Tillman, who re
turned to Washington Monday from
his farm in Carolina, where lie has
