A HELPFUL LETTER.
rimers, S. C., April 10, 1912.
Dear Editor :
Yon aC; for more information on
hogchoUia and now I am goin” to
tell you nay experience.
I had cholern among mv hogs twice
in fifteen years and each time it killed
nen-ly nil of them, but it has been
about fifteen year* since I have lost
any hogs w itb cholera.
Now. when ono of my bog* gets sick
I civp it about ten dropa of carbolic
*u.id lo. vhcuTiwa quarta of thick slop
once every day or once every two days
owing to the case, if the bog be too
sick to eat I drench it with the acid
making s weak solution of it by puD
ting it in sweet milk.
To keep my hogs in a healthy condi
tion I give them spirits' of turpentine
or kerosene oil all along im their slop.
Copperas is also good to give them to
keep i hem healthy.
When my hogs get full of lice I
spray them with kerosene about once a
we«k until liofi i* destroyed. I also
keep tlie buzzards from sittingop tree*
in pasture hv shooting at them. [
think probably the hog* might con
tract the cholera from the buzzard*.
