BAD IMMIGRANT*.
Magistrate L. C.v Bennett last week
sentenced to the chain gang two negro
men, runaways from Georgk, for five
months. Each bad a shaokel on a leg.
They admitted having stolpn a mule
and buggy, and driving ail night left
the outfit on Georgia aids. Crossing
the Savannah at Brown’s landing they
broke into a Carolina negro’s house
snd stole clothing. For. this offence
they were sent to the gang. -They
claim they will escape whenever they
wish, but Supervisor Morris had Irons
welded on them at Fairfax. Tbe
Screven County sheriff was over on
Friday to look after them.

ern Railway’s Good Road* Train at
Barnwell on Friday and with pleasure
listened to tbe lectures and looked at
the pictures furnished free of coat.
The auditorium car was too warm
and crowded for comfort and health, so
we sat outside and took notice. The

MANY BALES BURNED.
About 1 o’clock Friday morning the
old depot and long cotton platform of
the Southern Railway on Railroad
Avenue, Blackville, was burned, to
gether with over 900 bales of cotton
and three box oars. The Ice house,
for which one room of the depot was
