Friday evening, February 10th, will be long remembered by those wtio at tended the entertainment given at the Ulmer school building on that date Thla hazaar and carnival wa* given for the benefit of tha Shady Grove School, but owing to the lack of room at their building the trustee* of the Ulmer School kindly consented to the loan of their building for the occasion. Quite a nice sura wa* realized from the different source#, .which will he used to purchase a library and to im prove the interior of the •rbool room. Thi* srhool for the past two aeaaions ha* beea under the efficient manage ment of Ml** Marie Duke* of Row**- vllle. Officer Gunrn T* received two wound* that caused Ills death in a few hour*. Officer Johnson’* leg wa* slightly wounded. The mur derer escaped. At an early hour Saturday morning the Southern Railway New Oilcan* to New York train wa* held up hv Hve masked men near Oainoavd'e. Ga. An attempt to blow open a stationary safe containing $115,00<l failed but a smaller portable safe was successful!? dyna mited and f700 taken. At 6 o'clock HstirVday morfflng at Easier, Pickens County, Assistant Postmaster Kolger found a white man with blackened face preparing to blow the aafe.
