It seems to be the habit Just now
for manufacturers to complain hut
as the price of yarns has been ad
vanced within the last week and the
price of standard bleached goods, and
almost all lines of manumCured pro

cent a yard! which is equivalent
to 2 to 3 cents a pound in raw cot
ton) as compared with prices of last
week, the manufacturer is not find
ing very much sympathy
After the recent advance there was
for several daya during the week
very heavy liquidation; the market
declined to around 13 cents just at
the time when the advance in the
manufactured goods was announced.
This seemed to encourage business
materially and there was evidence
of free buying from spinners. The
market had been relieved of a large
long interest which was rusd;’ to my

technical position was decldely Im

Also at 1 Vfl.'L"t’ fhere is a storm
reported in the Gulf. Any develop
ment of had weather would tend to
spoil cotton and lower the grades,
so all in all at this writing condi
tions are decidedly favorable for
higher prices in the near future, but
If none of these predictions for frost
and storms materialize we may have
only a scalper” market for the m-
nfwiflate present but declines will
hardly go lower than around 13 cents
where it seems attractive for spin
ners to come in to buy. While we
may have these setbacks we believe
the tendency of prices will be up
wards.
We feel -Jest as much confidence
in ultimately higher prices in the
market as ever.
