On Friday evening white driving
homeward from Williston Mr. Cleve
land Fanning was shut and killed a
few hundred yards beyond the old
Phillip* mill site III* team went to
a neighboring house and blood beiny
on the buggy a search was made for

A charge of buckshot bad entered his
back and a pistol ball had passed
through hia arm aud thigh.

Near Denmark on Saturday morning
Mr Jacob A. Nix. wa* shot twice anti

Mr. Nix was an industrious and suc
cessful farmer. There bad been some
previous trouble about farm work with
hi* tenants and it* renewal led to ill,
giently regretted death.
He is survived by hi* wife, one eon
and three daughter*.

held on Sunday by Coroner Lewis B.
Creech and a verdict rendered that Ute
shooting was jus.iable.
