Sweet Lucy la aleeptng beneath the

could not die and though her fair form
be laid beneath the aod, the soul has
joined the shining throng where tent
pests cease and surges swell no more.
She was such a womanly little
w0iiiwti, a consistent member of the
Christian church with such an earnest
ardent nature. Life seemed ao full of
purpose to her, and every thing btautl-
fill and good seemed to harmonise with
her amiable character. She waa Indeed
the light of her borne, though spared
to bright.- n the household of her dear
young husband only ten short months.
Her being seemed permeated with
those more than half divine beautle*
that make all true women the nearest
perfect of all crested things.
The winter snows may rover her
grave and the soughing pines chant
tbelr sad requiem but our hearts still
grieve over the loss of dear Lucy. We
can recall ao many nf the rare charms
and congenial traits which rendered
her so attractive; the depth and
strength and high smiled Ambitions of
her ardent nature which made fftlTM
winsome la ever present In our minds.

bought on time or with borrowed mon
ey they will be worked to make cotton
enough to pay for themselves and the
bought Western corn and hay that
they will eat.
And the wise-men who will not In
crease their cotton acreage this year
will, witlhfuur exceptions, endeavor by
the lavish use of fertilizers to incfAati
the number* of their hales. Anifthe
fertilizers will also have to he paid for
out of the eonithg erop, as wall as -the
labor hired to make It

saw numbers of cotton seed and cab
bage plant offerings for aaie, but not a
single advertisement of seed corn!
Out in the middle and north-west
where corn la the money crop the.

the seed the larger the crop and the

Indiana laat month there wera 160 ex
hibitors. Keen the school boys are In
terested and art taught by preoept and
learned by practice to know the best
seed.
The big cob does not always make
the most grain. The shape and size nf
the grains planted have much to do
with getting a good stand and making
a fall crib.
The properlr shaped grain for best
results Is a little over one and a half
times a* long aa wide, of a straight
wedge shape but not pointed. It
should be of good tblekness and while
not wide at tho end next the cob It
shonld be well shouldered out giving
room for a strong, plump germ. The
shallow, short grains will glva a low
C >r cent of corn to the oob, while the
ng clim grains Indicate weakness and
