DEATH.
On Wednesday night the death an
gel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Attis Creech and took away their
bright little aon Oscar, aged about two
and a half years.
Just two year* ago our darllug John
James was called to the Heavenly
horn*. Jt seems very bard to give
them up, but the good Lord who gave
them thought It best to take them.

OBITUARY.
After an Illness of about three weekr
Mr. James C. Still died at bis home
Sunday, June 18th. 1905. in the Reedy
Branch community, leaving father and
mother, two brothers, three sisters and
a host of friend? and relatives to mourn
bis loss.
He was a consistent member of the
Reedy Branch Baptist church where
his remains were laiiLlrt rest on Mon-
day at 6 o’clock p m.. Rev. 8. P. TlaTr
of Blackville, 8. C., conducting the
funeral service from the le'xt: "For h«
endifl-ed as seeing him who was invis-
Ible,” Hebrew 11:27.
He was a young man about 25 years
of age and unmarried—liked for hi.*
good qualities and character. He led
a gentlemanly life while he-e on earth.
He will be sadly missed from the
home where his voice is no more heard
and his chair vacant, it was the
Lord’s wi'.l that he was taken from our
home and community.
The pall bearers consisted of Messrs
G. W Italk, Howell JHlfc. Bam Pea
cock, Willie Hartzug, Hiram Harley
and Elbert Grubbs.

the discussion of how to combat with
th« evils which have environed us for
so many years, and suggest the reme
dies as I see them.

tary Academy, to take effect.June 15th,

Applicants for the appointment must
be not under 17 and not over 22 years
of age, shall be not lets than 5 feet and
3 Inches In height or lOfr pound* lu

ture and entirely free from Inherited
or contracted „ diseases and of good
moiral character.

teacher’* par-warrant who does not
comply with the above. The renewal
of a certificate by the County Board of
Education is forbidden by law unless
the teacher attend* a summer school
for teacher* and makes a satisfactory
record. All teachers who neglect or
fail to attend the County or State sum
mer school (and whose certificates have
expired) will have an opportunity to
get certificates of qualification at the
September examination for teacher*.

summer school will consist of the fol
lowing branches. viz.: Beuhler’a En
glish Giammar, Wentworth’*practical
Arithmetic. Peterman’s Civil Govern
ment, Hughes’Mistakes In Teaching.
Frye’s Advanced Geogtaphy, Drawing
and Primary Methods.
