His subject was ’’Make the most of
life." and excellently and eloquently
was it handled.
After his feast of reason came a din-
nerofgood things too numerous to
mention, all delightfully prepared and
most hltspliably served. In the after*
noon the young folks had their show
ing. and the old-folk* were delighted
with the splendid idvkncsmcnt made
during the past year. In the*Declaim-
era* Contest the prise was won by Miss
Nellie Ray and happily presented by
Rev. C.44. Billings, while theprixe in
the Reciters’ Contest was gracefully
presented to Miss Mamie Bush,**he-
winner, hr Senator George H. Bate*.
The concert at night was as If all the
song birds of tha community had
gathered to greet the incoming of the
Kiimiuertime of fruits and flowers. All

contractors have received asking for an
opportunity to teet the machine here,
Mr. P. H. Loud of WUHston, In Barn
well comity, is the inventor of a suc
cessful bricklaying machine, which
with two or three men to operate it and

dows. It is also said that the machine

destructive bell storm. Many fields,
smiling with promise In the morning

alx to twelve Inches in depth, the crop
beneath so completely destroyed that
entire planting over was the only
thing to be done. In pieces the drifts
of hell stones were two and a half feet
deep.
The principal sufferers, as far as we

Hewlett (who lost two hundred and
