The first" Gt-ORter South Carolina
State Fair will be held on the new
jrroyod* ..recently .purchased by the
State Agricultural and Mechanical
Society, and which have been fitted up
with all modfem Improvements for the
comfort and* convenience of both ex
hibitor* a.nd vlsltonr. THis.will be the
thirty-sixth Fair since the reorganiza
tion of the Society after the_ciyil wa*j
and will bp held the last* week in Oc^
tober. from the morning of the 26th
to the-wening of the 28th.
Every county. In the State should be"
represented In the exhibits, for there la
to all the exhibitors at every Fair, the
premiums being only a small part of
the benefits. A great many farmers
and stock breeders count only what
pr lies.a re veon,- but this should not be
the case, because the greatest behefltw
are obtained in advertising what you
have for sale and in meeting with the
progressive men from other sections
of the state and obtaining their ideas
and seeing the results of the!*'
methods. The maTmgement of the Fair

made by which freight charges arts
paid on all exhilflts from thjs State,
free stalls are provided for stock, arid
free bedrooms are furnished all Ex

at all hours of the day or night at
reasonable prices, and feed forAtock

regular market prices, and besides,

smay be shipped directly to ttfe
grounds, for there U ample side track
provision for all the cars. Solid cars
should be billed "Secretary State
Fair, Columbia, §. O. care-- Fair
Ground Tracks,” and they will be
rushed right through to destination.
'Some exhibitors may OiMric they can-*
not make their entries jlroperly. but
Secretary Love will take pieasure in
giving all necessary aid. provided ap
plication is rnpde to him prior to lb
o’clock Tuesday morning, as the Fair
opens at that.hour and no entries can
