A TOWNSII11’ TRUST.
The first week In December three
farmers of Fortune Township, — coun
ty, Iowa, met at tiro cross roads store
and post office and talked about the
news, now lumber and fence wire had
gone up and how tho price of farm
atuff had fallen. They agreed tliat it
wa» about time for the farmers to fight
trusts, but knew the difficulty of get
ting so many to sot together. A wise
■woman who had'sold hens lor 20 cent*
each while her town sister had paid 5^

form a poultry trust. They did *0.

ed the agreement. Well, they all to
gether had 43,00<f chickens, 8,100 tur
keys, 2,800 guineas, duck* and geese.
Local merchants offered $12,006 for the
lot. but a city dealer was telegrafhed
to come, bought the poultry, paying
$16,604, a gain of |8,C9!} for the owners.
The total weight of the collection of
fowls was 250,000 lbs. And all had a
