Capt. Allen F. Free departed this life
at his home in Barnwell on Monday
morning, aged 79 years, lie had been
in ill health for some time, yet.the end

A few years ago Mr. L. A Green,
a long look alicad and bought a valua
ble water power on Rosemary Creek,
some four miles South of Willlston.
He begiyn Improving It, building two
story rice, grist and Hour mills of tiie
best material ami in the most substan
tial manner. While these enterprise*'
were profitable the grain crops of the
surrounding country were not sulli-
eiently large to give constant employ
ment to his irrepressible activity. So,
upon suggestion of his son, Mr. Walter
Greet!, a,,born mechanician, he decided
to put in a knitting plant. It was
done. On Saturday a number of gen
tlemen trout Barnwell, Willlston and
Elko visited Rosemary* for the double
purpose of seeing this pioneer enter
prise and for enjoying one of the
barhfecue feasts for which the Joyce
,Bianch,country,. in which Mr, Green
was born and raised, is so justly
famed.
