Magistrate W.'It. ffrahham of Allen
dale, acting as Coroner,* held an in
quest oh the 8th Inst, on tho dead body
of Taliuage Kearse, colored, six or
seven years, of age. The evidence
showeil that several children were left
in the house bv the Are while their pa
renta were stripping cane, that James
N. Kearse. colored, about 8 year* old,
took a gun from a barrel anil shot his
younger brother, the charge of sihlill
shot cutting the jugular vein and In
ternal and external carotid arteries.
The jury found that the ••gun ah*n
wounds were inflloted by- James N.
Kearse, the saipe being by mUfoitune
and contrary to his will.”

week. It was pretty well tilled with
seed cotton and fodder, while many

A colored care taker saw abundant
smoke pouring out of the crevice* late
