N. W. Pickett, of Anson county N.
C., that be, while near — Bridge,
between the bounties of Sumter untt
Darlington, W here the valorous Col.
Shannon fell by the pistol shot of the
intrepid Col. Cash, inspected the
grounds closely. Col. Pickett says he
found a marble slab, without an in
scription, marking the spot where Col
Shannon fell, and a stake 18 yards
northeast, where Col. Cash stood.
Col. Pickett, w ho was a w ai m friend
and a distant relative by afiinity of
Col.Casli, and a frequent guest, beard
him say that the sharpest sting in his
bosom relative to the difficulty was that
