Miss Brown went for a short walk la the Arid* to gather wild Aoners. She did not return when expected and her famtlv became anxious. Nor was she conscious of U* nature till, coming to herself after the shock of the gunshot had thrown her into a faint, she saw the dead snake. The rat’fesnake proved tb lie a mon ster of its kind. Putting the dismem bered head onto the body, it measured an even seven feet in length. The body in its largest part was 18 Inches in cir cumference. It had 16 rattles and a button.
