sixty-two years of age on the 20th of
June last. A devoted husband, five af
fectionate children, many grand chil
dren and a large cl role of loving friends

all the relations of life, from childhood
until the last hour, as daughtar, wife,
mother, grand mother, friend and
Christian, she lived for others and
found her chief happiness in mlnis-

in need of kindly help a id comfort.
To her loved ones, so heart grieved at
her departure, the blessed assurance is
left that their loss is her gain and that
the good work set her by the Master on

The Piedmont Headlight says: Dr.
Irby, of Laurens, cures the finest ham*
we ever tasted, and they have a state
wide reputation. They are cured after
the old ante-bellum Virginia fashion
The Doctor says to save meat you must
use .coarse Liverpool salt, for the
American salt .won’t answer if the
weather turns warm. Dr. Irby trims
his bams and joint* close, when they
are thoroughly salted. About March
he covers each ham with a thin coat
ing of molasses, and then sprinkles
black pepper over them: When smo
ked, thri"molasses and pepper seem to
enter the meat, and impart a delicious '
flavor. Beside*, they exclude all in
sects. Do not cover the skin, but only
the portions of the ham that have been
cut. If you try this recipe, you will
find the sweetest and nicest hams you
ever tasted. Dr. Irby say* if you will
