marshals from Springfield went to
Mount Olive last night on a special
train to arrest the ringleaders of the
strikers, who have for several days held
up trains and stopped coal In transit
over the Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis
Railroad. They succeeded In arresting
four of the strikers for whom they had
warrants, bui a mob of 400 strikers
too possession of the ear, overpowered^
the depnty marshals and took the
prisoners away from them. The mar*

steamer Wiiiiinettic baa arrived here
from Dutch Harbor. She brings a ro»a
xre report of the loss of the American
whaler bark James Allen, which was
wrecked off Atka Island, 200 miles West
of Alaska, .uar 11th. The stoamer^Dora
picked up two of the crew on June 11.
The men were starving, their only food
being salt meat: the Allen ran on •
rock off Atka Island and sank! almost
mimediatelj . The captain and first mate
were lost. The rest of the crew, who
left In one ot their boats for Unajaska,
are stilt missing. The United State*
patrol Petrel ts out searching for them.'
The lost vessel belonged to San Fran
cisco. The ckptain’s name is unknown.
He wss drowned with the first mate in
his cabin. The second mate la among
the mining men. The Allen had on
