Another chapter whs begun in the
McFail cave last week. Upon t'.ie dis-
mitsa) by the Supreme Court of his ap
peal Mr. McFail applied‘ twice in pur-
son for admission into the IVnitenthiry.
The amhorllica had no authority to
receive him and he came home.
His attouieys, G. W. M. Williams and
Douglass and Obear, of Columbia, on
Saturday obtained “a~*writ of errou”
from Associate Justice Larnar, k of tlie
IJiiitevl States Supreme Court. The
matter is to be argtjed before a full
bench and it will be from nine to twelve
months before it i* heard. In the
mean time he'wlll remain out o^n the
bail given some months ago.

Miss Lucia Weathersbee gave a solo
which w ould have made her a medalist
if there had beep any medals offered"
for vocal music. She has a voice of rare
possibiitties And sweetness. The dumb
bcil drill by nine couples of girlsshowed
thorough training. They executed their
movements with a precision that would
shame some of our military companies.

On Wednesday night an admission of
twenty-five cents was charged for the
purpose sf raising funds to pay some
expense* Incurred in completing the
rooms up sntir, and it wa* feared that
the audience would he decimated. But
when the mirtain was rung ujitiie house
was crowded to Its utmost. The small
fee seemed to whet the desires of the
pconle to wiinens the closing exercises.
The pupils acquitted themselves quite
well hi their dramatic entertainment

The Greenville County Alliance met
on Friday and adopted resolutions
unanimously pledging solid support to
Cleveland and Stevenson and endorsing
the course of the State delegation.
The meetiug of the Orangeburg Coun
ty Alliance on Friday was as largely
attended as usual and enthusiasm was
as great as ever. Resolutions wore
adopted in memory of President L. L.
Polk and Congressman Stackhouse
Steps wer*4ak«n to arrange for the ear
ly purchase of bagging for the growing
cotton crop.
Let us urge the members of the Alli
ance to stand firmly. Because the num
ber of members has decreased we must
not conclude (hat the sentiment of the
Alliance has waned. Twenty good ac
tive member* will accomplish more
