Blackville Graded 'School took place at
the Park Hall on Thursday evening
last. It was beautifully rendered ana
the pupila certainly deserve credit for
their training, especially in the broom
drill. The hall was profusely derormtad
with flowvrs artistically arranged on
and around the stage, which presented
adecidedlv striking appearance in Itself.
The music was superb, rendered by
Misses Cora and Kosina Brown, Prof.
Kennedy, of Denmark, the expert vio
linist, and Prof. Klein, of Augusta,
with the clarionet.
The exercise* were opened by a
prayer hy Rev. W. D. McMillan.

A New Baptist Cknrcfc*
' A three days meeting was held at
Hammond, June 10-121892, fot the pur
pose of organizing a Baptist church.
Rev. W. G. Britton is preaching here
one Sunday in each mouth under ap
pointment of the State Mission Board
and he is doing a good work.
On Friday June 10th the opening tier
mon was preached by Rev. D. W. Key
It w as a strong and eloquent present*
tion of the Christian's high calling.
Then followed a scholarly paper by
Ray. C. P. Ervin on A New Testament
church.
A church was organized with twanty
eight members, dismissed for the pur
pose by the Friendship and Reedy
Branch churches.

church after the covenant had been

Dinner was served on the groflnd and
everybody seemed to have a good time.
