Barnwell i* the Banner County That was proved again on Tuckd#) 1 , Tlie opening meeting of the State Cam paigu was the most orderly that has been held in the State in three or four years. Good humor prevailed, every speaker was given a courteous hearing and there was no attempt or even desire to resort to tlie how ling down processes that have obtained in less fair and less civilized counties. Barnwell hasgiven the State campaign a dignified begin ning and if the rest of the State Nvill follow her good example it w ill be one of argument, education and good feel ing. About six hundred persons' a nunibcrof laylies injluded, were injthe audience. County Chairman Bellinger presided. Col. Janies L. Orr, candidate for Lieutenant Governor on the Sheppard ticket^ made the opening speech of a half 1 our in length. Attorney General UcLaunn followed in a speech of the same length. Ex-Gov. Sheppard next sjioke for forty-five minutes ami Gov. Tillman came nect with a speech of one hour and a quarter. Brief speeches were made afterwards by Lt. Gov. K. B.
