The Campaign Meeting.
E'Utor 1 :
In your notice of the public meeting
to he in Barnwell you gave good advice
to all w ho may attend. The county pa
pers should continue on the same line
with requests, petitions and implora-
tions for good order, gentlune** amP re
spectable demeanor on the occasion.
More will he made in thiVwyy tlmi cMi
he after the manner of some campaign
meeting* we have heard of. A real nice
meeting will he to the credit of both
*ide*. If any converts are to be had
from either party they wont come for
loud bellowing—more apt to be scared
off. It would ne a safe bet that the par-
;ty making the most ffts* will get less
votes at the |m)11s. Then if one Jias sny
regard fir public opinion, and a good
name, there is an agreeable satisfaction
to know that the citizens of the banner
county are a nice set of folk*. -
The party called the harmony party
should remember its name and be con
sistent. The party called the reform
party should think of reform in man
ner* as iu other matters. Thus one
should, its member*, so walk and acton
the *peaking occasion as If they were at
a prayer meeting, and those of the other
as If they were at a funeral.
If one side cannot applaud a speaker
without making the other side mad it
has been suggested that both sides join
in paying the per diem of four or six
colored citizens. If white ones won’t do
to applaud lustily each speaker at
