'The deep interest that these profes sional and well read men paid to his lec ture was good proof that the doctor handled his subject in a masterly man* tier The lecture was well Illustrated by beautiful microscopical views. I lived in Barnwell in ItUff, fifty-three yemw wgor—Lnsraa a la»y then, fifteen years old. I clerked for Mr. James E. Rohlitepn, who kept the biggest store in Itarnwett. The store sat right where the Barnwell Bank now sets. The build ing belonged to my dear old uncle, Pol. B. II. Brown. Mr. William Smith was also a clerk and book keeper. He was a refined, intelligent gentleman. 'The boys that lived in Itahiwell then about my age were Joe Betlsr, Jimmy O’Ban- non, Laura O'Hannon, Joe O'Ban non, John MTxsou. the great wateniielou king, Spider Mixson, Duncan Brown, Hen Brown, t'llnt Brown, Angus Brown, Paddy Brown, John Mauley, William Siueff, Lang Duncan, Ed Pat terson, last but not least, my old friend.
