Last week Lawyer Lyles gave State
Treasurer Bates a check for one-third,
the cash portion, and Alexander’s bond
and mortgage for the balance. Treas
urer Bnt.es turned over the title deeds
with an order for the parties occupying
the building to vacate the premises.
As soon as the deed was obtained
Lawyer Lyle* offered to pay up Alex
ander’s mortgage w i 1 fp Blue Ridge

UoUi t. Of course it w as refused. Dr.
Bates referred the matter to Gov. Till
man, who, t he Attorney General and ids
