ample. Ten years ago she had num
ber* of wholesale commission houses
w hose principal business-was selling
Western meat and corn to .Southern
farmers, i Xow you cannot rind any of
those stores, and the wholesale grocery
stares in Atlanta will tell you that tlieir
trade imthat direction is hardly worth
counting. The price of meat, has been
reduced, and under this reduction we
fear that the Southern farmer will
again grow indifferent about raising
home supplies.
Don’t do it. .No matter how low
may be the pricA of meat, it is hot good
pulley for a farmer to buy it when he
can raise it for almost nothing. Be
sides you do not,know- how soon the
price of meat may be advanced by the
workings of some trust or combination.
The farmer should raise everything.he’
needs at home, and when he does this
he is independent of every trust, cares
nothing for the fluctuations of markets,
and looks to no one for assistance save
