While the children of Mr. J. 1). Low -
man of the Fork, were playing in the
road at this place last Wednesday a
strange dog with foaming mouth ap
peared suddenly among them and at-
teufpted to bite his little daughter.
Hi* Httie son, seeing the dog's inten
tion, interposed his person, when tlie
dog gnvnied iiim on the hip. The hero
ic little fellow grasped the dog by the
neck and throat and had nearly choked
the animal to death when Mr. Lowmait
arrived, who took andeonfthed the dog
in hi« shop until several neighbors pro
nounced it mad, when it warf killed.
The little hoy was taken to Dr. J. 1^.
Shuler, who found hifrwound to beoniy
a bruise from the dog’s tee.tii and he
pronounced it not dangerous.—Lexing
