The Columbia Register narrates the
following incident at having occurred
during Watson’s speech at Batesburg
on the 9th inst.:
“A man in the crowd was eontineally
interrupting the speaker with questions
about his position on the third party
question. He Anally worked his way
up and stood on t^e edge of the plat
form and interrupted every time W at-
*on made a point with “.Hurrah for
Butler.” The speaker paid little atten
tion und the Interruption continued
When he spoke of the miserable condi
tion of the South, comparing her to a
widow, and said that they proposed to
take off her weeds, put on her the robe
of Miriam and load her to a better hab
itation, thF man stood there with tear*
in his eyes*, and when the speaker
squarely defined his intention of follow
ing the Ocala platform, and, turning to
the interrupter, asked ‘‘How’s that?”
the man capitulated and shouted “Hur
rah for Watson.”
