At Cypress Chapel.
The .School Exhibition at Cypress
Chapel on last Thursday was a grand
success, reflecting much credit upon
the pupils and honor on their teacher,
Professor Gooch, who has been untiring
in l»is efforts in the discharge of his irk
some duty. The people of Dunbarton
show their appreciation oj edueatioiu
work by the targe attendance at The ex
hibition, thus encouraging both pupils
and teacher.
After tlie exercises of the i>chool were
over there was a sumptuous ple-niediu-
ner which every 1m,dy enjoyed. There
were lots of pretty girls anil handsome
boys present who exchanged many
pleasant* vows to he consummated in
the future by the execution of that most
important of coutracts. matrimony.
The Gordon Light Dragoons, com
manded by ’handsome Peyton Cater,
turned out in full uniform and gave an
exhibition drill in tlie afternoon which
the ladies enjoyed very numb.

fourth finger of the left hand was so
badly lacerated that Dr. C. D. Glarkgon
amputated it. The dog was killed l>y

According to figure* of the census ta
ken in June, 1890, and published last
week Barnwell county has increased
her population 4.75B persons since the
census of 1880 was taken. The percent.,
of increase was 11.93. Now leLthe re

the county’s population is now and
what it was in 1880.
^ The trial of Thomas J. Stack for kill
ing Mr. Jno. B. Ham met was begun at
Lexington Court on Monday. A jury
was secured with little trouble. The
■evidence for the State, as reported by
the State, of Columbia, was the same as
was given at the inquest and which was
published tn Thk Ekopl*. Skinner &
Williams assisted the Solicitor and Mel
ton <fc Melton appeared for the defence.
At this writing, Wednesday morning,
we have not heard that a verdict has
